We Got Company!

I have had the bestest time the past week playing with Lilly and my grandma. I think mom and dad were worried I would be too hyper and scratch or jump on them all the time, but I have been really good! They will be here the rest of this week.
Note from Mom: having company has been the best thing for Opie. It has calmed him down so much having 3 other people in the house. Especially with my granddaughter being 7 years old. He really took up with my mom and likes to sit in the recliner with her.

Note from Mom: this contest is for the most silly face. Thanks again for goring!

THEN THE PERSON HOLDING THE CONTEST POSTED THAT THEY WERE SICK AND UNABLE TO TALLY THE VOTES SO THE CONTEST WOULD GO ON TIL THE EVENING. THEN WHEN THEY FINALLY TALLIED THE VOTES - OPIE LOST. NOT REALLY FAIR - BUT OH WELL.

My New Bed

Mom says we got a super duper bargain today on my new bed. I don't know - all I know is after an hour of walking around Petco and greeting every person that came my way, I was one tired puppy! I couldn't wait to get home and lay down in my new bed!

Note from Mom: What a bargain! This was a $100 bed. It was on clearance for half price. I noticed a few spots on it so I got the manager and asked if he would sell it to me at a lower price and he offered $30....well, I jumped on that! We got it home and the spots just wiped right off! As you can see - he loves it!

Waiting Patiently

My dad got mom a ramp for us and I know how to use it! I can go up and I can go down and get in the SUV with no problem. This will make my mom's back feel better, for sure! Mom has been taking me places just to ride around in the car and practice using the ramp so I will be comfortable.
Here we are waiting in line at Starbucks because my mom had a birthday this week and she got a free drink so I get a free puppy latte! I love love love them.

Note from Mom:
Oh, how I love that ramp!! At almost 40 pounds and super stocky - he is hard to life any more. He was able to come down right away but it took a few times and coaxing for him to go up. Now he can do it without any problem at all.

Don't Bully Me!

My mom is very unhappy about something. I get to go to all the training classes at Petsmart. I get to stay at the Pet Hotel. I get to go to doggy daycare or daycamp. BUT I am not allowed to have group play with any of the dogs that go. They say I am a "bully breed" so I can't play with dogs that are not bully breeds. They say they like me there and I am very sweet and cute, but that is the rules.

Note from Mom: I know exactly what Pit Bull owners have been upset about for years. Frankly, I was one of those people who stayed away and was afraid of pit bulls. Even tho my brother in law has 2 pit bulls and his daughter has one - I was still very cautious around them and I still wouldn't let Opie be around them because  although they are friendly dogs and have been socialized around people they have not been socialized around other dogs. They have grown up with each other and so other dogs haven't really been introduced too much. They are responsible owners and they keep them put up if anyone comes to visit that have pets. However - Petsmart has lumped together EVERY breed that has "bull" in the name. American Bulldog included. Even tho every person that works in the Pet Hotel told me they disagree 100% - that is the rules. So Opie can stay at the hotel, he can have human play time - but he can never been in group play. I was almost in tears when I learned this. We are going through all their training classes - we are taking him to Petsmart to just walk around and be with people. We are taking him to the dog park. We are doing everything we know to do to make sure he will be a well behaved, socialized dog. The problem is - it still won't change anything. He will always be considered a "bully" based on misconceptions and fear society has placed on dogs that comes from pet owners who have raised dogs with the intentions to hurt others. It ruins it for the sweet natured "bullies" out there that responsible owners know will never hurt another.
