We Found A House

My mom and dad found our new house! We get to move in next month and I am so excited because I am going to have a great big back yard! Mom and Dad are really excited, too. Mom says I am going to have to learn to go up and down stairs because our bedroom will be upstairs. That is OK - I think I can do it. Dad says it will be good exercise for me, too. He is going to set up some fun things for me to do in the backyard. I can't wait.

Note from Mom: The search is over! I am so glad. The good news is - the day we put our house on the market - we had 2 great offers! One being cash - and that is the one we went with. The other was actually $2200 over our asking price, but cash always sounds better!
We were afraid we were not going to get the house we made the offer on, because we had already lost out on several - houses are selling super fast - so we offered $11,000 over the asking price and they still took 5 days to decide! We know they had multiple offers. I am just happy that they chose us!
Here is a few pictures of the beautiful house we are about to call home.

House Hunting

Mom and Dad have been house hunting like crazy. Every time they think they have found one - it just isn't. They want to have a big yard for me to play in. Right now we have a pool and I don't really like it so much and mom is always afraid I am going to fall in. Well, I actually did fall in one time but it was close to the steps and I got myself out before Mom could even get out of her chair. Another time one foot slipped in but I caught myself. Mom and Day say if I fall in the deep end I could be in some serious trouble! I try to be careful, but sometimes I just can't help getting too close.

Anyway - Mom and Dad are looking for the perfect house that will be just right for all of us. Mom wants a bigger house and Dad wants plenty of room outside for me him to play in, too. They have been getting our house ready to sell and I think they are just about ready. It looks pretty good to me!

Note from Mom: I don't want to get my hopes up - but we have put in an offer for a house that we feel fits us to a "T". But, this has happened before. We will find out today if they accept our offer (full price) but with the contingency of our house selling. We are pretty confident ours will sell quickly, so hopefully their listing agent will recognize that and give them the advice that it is a sound offer. However, so many people are looking to buy and just not enough on the market that is really this nice and a good price. Will see - - - I keep telling myself that if it is "meant to be, it will be". I say that to my kids - so I need to believe that myself!

13 Months Old

72 pounds - that's me! Mom says that I am just right - she doesn't want me to get any bigger. I don't know if I will or not. I sure like to eat!!

Mom and dad are looking for another house to buy so I will have a bigger backyard. Our backyard has a pool and it takes up a lot of room. Mom says that is the #1 stipulation - it must have a BIG yard!

Note from Mom: Since American Bulldogs are not considered grown until at least 2 years old, it is hard to tell if he is at his maximum. I am still thinking he will be less than 80, but then I didn't think he would reach 70, so who know!

We are looking for a house with a big back yard, no pool - more room in general. People laugh and say we are doing this for Opie - but actually, we have thought about it for a good while - before Opie was even thought about. I feel like we are in a new phase in our lives and a pool is just not priority any more. No more than it is used, it is a huge waste of money. The upkeep is tremendous and it just isn't worth it. With having Opie - that pushed us into making the decision instead of just talking about it. I can't wait to have a big yard for him to play him!

Female Dog Whisperer

I heard my mom and dad talking about a lady that they are going to take me to that is considered a female version of Cesar, the Dog Whisperer. She has even met Cesar and worked with him. She works with all animals from horses to dogs to pigs. I can't wait to meet her!

Note from Mom: Even though I am taking courses for dog training myself, there are still some areas that Opie needs work in that  I haven't been able to get under control well enough because of a husband that doesn't get that we have to be consistent. I think that if we see this woman and she shows us both how exactly we are to work with Opie on walking without pulling *using a regular collar and leash - not a halti like we have been doing...it may work.
Plus we still have the issue with him wanting to jump on people. He is much much better, but it takes every ounce of energy he has to control himself with me being right on top of him making sure he doesn't do it. Any one coming to the door or approaching us (especially children) is fair game to him. That has to stop.
Actually Brad is the one who heard of this lady first - and knows a couple of people from his job who are familiar with her work. I am very excited to talk with her, let her visit with Opie and work with him in the areas that are most needed.

Another plus - she also boards! She lives on a farm less than 15 minutes from us - so we may have a new place for Opie to stay when we need someone.

Stay tuned - this will be something I will be blogging about in the near future.
